Deobloda or Deobloda Choroda is located 18 km from Chhatisgarh's capital city Raipur. It is located about 3 km from the city of Bhilai in Durg district. Here is a very ancient temple of Lord Shiva named "6-Masi Shiv Temple" which is considered as the 7th century. It is a very beautiful temple and there is a pond near it. The myth is that this pond is connected to an underground tunnel from another old town Arang of Chhattisgarh state.

History of Temple

It is said that this temple was built in just 6 months and that is why it is also called 6 Maashi temple. This temple is incomplete in seeing. King Vikramaditya built this temple in the 7th century. Some consider it to be the 11th century. While this temple shows the effect of Chalukya architectural art. The temple is made of sandstone, which have not the peak on the temple's top. In the temple premises, there is a pond( kund), which has no depth to date.

The Shiva Mandir of Deobloda Charoda built in the Kalchuri period is considered from 12th to 13th century. This temple was constructed by a sculptor on a night of 6 months he worked naked. His wife used to bring food for him in the night. Once her sister came with food, the sculptor jumped into the trunk because he was naked and he went to Arang City via the tunnel.


Here, her sister felt that because of her brother's death, she jumped into a  pond located near temple and gave her life, where is still her statue. Throughout the sculptor from tunnel in Arang city, on which place Bhanadeva temple is built. Where his naked idol can still be seen today.

There is an idol of Nandi at the entrance to the temple. In the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, there is Shivalinga, brown in color. Lord Shiv, beautiful statues of warriors in the outside walls of the temple are statues of other gods in the temple of Lord Ganesha, men and women dancing, animals, gods and more.

Like the Khajuraho's temples, this Shiva Temple also has the traditional erotic form of Devi Devta and the carved statue is the center of attraction. This temple of Deobloda Choroda is special. Due to archaeological significance, this temple is under the protection of the Archaeological Department. Next to the temple is a pond, in which water never dries. Stairs have also been built in the basin.

How to reach 6-month temple

By road: This city is well connected by the National Highway by road, located 18 km from the capital Raipur. It is located about 3 km from Bhilai city. All kind of transport is available to get here.

By train: Deobloda Charoda Railway is located just near the temple.

By airport: The nearest airport is Swami Vivekananda Airport Raipur.
