Hamar Chhattisgarh: Angarmoti Mata, Dhamtari



Gangrel Dam, also known as the R.S. Sagar Dam (Ravi Shankar Dam), is located in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh, India. It is built across the Mahanadi River. It is the longest dam in Chhattisgarh. This dam supplies year round irrigation, allowing farmers to harvest two crops per year. And also provides water to Bhilai Steel Plant and new capital city Raipur.

The dam also provides a sense of refreshment for the visitors by providing water rides and water activities, on the dam one can also enjoy the sprawling and popular garden. The dam also supplies 10 MW of hydro-electric power capacity. It is located about 90 km from capital Raipur.

There are Vindhyasini and Angaramoli temples around Dam, which are famous for their art and culture. Tourists here come to visit the sunsets for twelve months, tourists come here more especially during monsoon because the dam in the monsoon is filled with rain water.

How to reach Gangrel Dam

By Road: Located north of Dhamtari, 90 km from the capital Raipur. Regular buses are available from here. You can go to Dhamtari even after roaming around Raipur for either a straightforward bliss.

By Train: Nearest railway station is Raipur railway station. It is also available regularly to other states of India.

By Flight: Dhamtari's nearest air base in Raipur, which is 16 kms away from Dhmatari.
