#Temple Adishakti Chandi Mata Temple of Ghunchapali in Bagbahara, Mahasamund


Chandi Mata Mandir is situated in village Ghunchapali in Bagbahra, Mahaasamund district. Village Bagbahra is full of natural beauty around it. In this village the self-proclaimed goddess Chandi situated that is surrounded by forests and hillsides. Mata Chandi formation is seen only about 9 feet high, the mother's giant geologic image which is constantly growing, is unique in itself. The temple of Maa Chandi is situated on the top of the hill at distance of 38 km from the district of Mahasamund.


There is no need for stairs to climb the hill because with the long sloping climbing becomes very easy, so the elderly and the unhealthy people who have any difficulty in climbing the stairs can also go to see Mata Chandi. The structure of the temple is very beautiful, here is Batuk Bhairav, Mahavir Hanuman ji, the temple of Mata Kali and Lord Shiva located inside the cave is noticeable. Wild animals are living in the jungle.


When you enter in Mata's huge temple, you will see the huge statue of Mata Chandi and after seeing you will be full of joy. You cannot see off from the huge statue of Mata. It seems that Mata Rani is calling all the devotees to her. The desire of a true heart is definitely fulfilled by Maa Chandi. Another important thing related to Maa Chandi is that the mother's statue is constantly growing. The temple trust has many times been made to the temple but in a few years the mother touches the ceiling and the temple has to be rebuilt again. Presently, the mother's statue is about 9 to 10 feet high.


Every year, in the both Navratri, there seems to be a lot of people. About 8000 to 10,000 jyoti are enlighten in the temple, during every Navratri by devotees for the sake of fulfillment. There is a presentation of various events and service songs throughout the day for nine days and the communion banquet are organized. In front of the temple there is a huge Jyothi room, in which a great amount of  enlighten jyoti during Navratri. The devotees revolve around the Jyoti chamber. There is a huge building near it that is made for the devotees of Mata Rani and for religious work. In which devotees can rest.



A large Havan Kund  is built in the courtyard temple for Havan work. Along with that, a huge Nagada sign has been made in the rock, which gives the entire beautiful look. The small garden behind the temple complex has been constructed. Also there is a Chhoti Chanti Mata temple about 2 km away in the same path on the top of the hill.

This Chhoti Chandi Maa temple is situated inside the beautiful cave. There is an ancient well near the temple. People say that the water of the well is never dried by the blessings of the mother. People take the water with great reverence.



Special Fact: Here's when bells are ringing for the mother's aarti, the wild bears come to seeing the temple. these bears have not harmed anyone till date, it is also called the miracle of the mother.


There is a nearby village Junwani where is a very ancient Mahabharata era plateau surrounded by a rock, in which there is a Shiva temple, and a long stone turned into a serpent's stone, which seems to be cut from center (that is also called the serpent's stone). There's a stone in the adjacent, when it strikes the stone, a particular type of sound emerges from the rock, which is the main attraction there. You should see at once when you visit Chandi Maa temple.

How to Visit Chandi Mata Temple

By Road: On the top of the hill, the temple of Maa Chandi is located at a distance of 38 km from Mahasamund. There is also a railway station along the road to go to the temple.

By Train: Distance from the Bagbahra railway station is 4 km.

By Flight: Nearest airport is Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur. Which is well connected to domestic flights.
