Hamar Chhattisgarh : Mauli Mata Temple and Royal Dussehra in Fingeshwar


Like Bastar Dussehra, Fingeshwar's royal Dussehra has its own identity. This Dussehra festival is also start after worshiping Mauli Mata, by the royal king. Many people are come from far away to see this dussehra festival. The historic temple of Mauli Mata is situated in the Fingeswar block of the Gariabandh district Chhattisgarh. Fingshwar is about 60 kms from capital Raipur.

Mythological Recognition

According to mythological belief and by priest Sobha Ram Bhandari, Fingeshwar was ruled by King Dalganjan Singh Takur. Once while he was in a journey some invaders attacked sudden. At that time Mauli Mata came in the form of an old lady, Raja Thakur Duljanjan Singh who was surrounded by the attackers feels Mauli Mata's presence.
Then he stood up and won the battle. Then the king went to mother and went back to the palace and started coming back to the palace, the mother who is in the form of an old man and started following behind the king, then Raja Dalganjan Singh experienced the invisible power. On king's request, Mauli Mata came to the royal palace. She respectfully worship by the king

Mauli Mata Temple, Fingeshwar
As an old woman, Mauli Mata is located in the pond in the west direction of Fingeshwar Raj Mahal. The King Thakur was planning to build a palace for the residence of Mauli Mata, which the mother refused and said to live in the hut of a haystack. Since then, Mauli Mata is live only in the haystack hut. The priest Shobha Ram Bhandari told that the king has kept 150 acres of land for the Khadar grass in Mauli Mata's cottage, which is now used to make grass hut by bringing grass.

By Road: Rajim is 40 KM away from Raipur. After that, Fingeshwar is located in Mahasamund road, about 17 KM away from Rajim, where bus and taxi are easily available.
 
By Train: Nearest railway station is Raipur. Bus and taxi is easily available from here to Fingeshwar.

By Flight: The nearest airport is Raipur, which is well connected to the domestic flight.
