Chhattisgarhi Dance : Sua Dance Beautiful Tribal Folk Dance

Traditional Sua Dance Form
Sua dance (Sua or Soowa Nacha) is a folk dance performed by tribal in Chhattisgarh. It is a dance form exclusively performed by group of women and men, on the occasion of Goura - Gauri (Lord Shiva and Parvati) marriage in the month of October and November. Usually this dance starts before Diwali. This dance form is about to worship God.

Sua literally means parrot, so the dance is also known as parrot dance. During the performance, the women bend and bend their heads like the bird and lift their feet imagining the parrot-walk. And men are play some traditional musical instruments.

Women are prepare a wooden parrot and place it on an earthen pot covered with paddy shoots. One girl carries the pot on her head and stands at the middle facing the dancing row.
