Heritage and tourisum places of Chhattisgarh: Gariyabandh

There are a variety of tourist places in Chhattisgarh most of which lie virtually unexplored. The unspoilt green forests, dotted with picturesque waterfalls, scenic plateaus and winding rivers offer a feast to eyes.
Gariyabandh is also a tourism and heritage place, where number of place which attracts to meet them. I want to introduce some of them.

Rajim: Shree Rajiv Lochan Mandir

Rajim is an ancient town and it is known as ‘Prayag of Chhattisgarh’.

 There is three rivers are meet, Mahanadi, Pairi and Sodhur. Shree Rajiv Lochan Temple is placed here.  Shri Rajiv Lochan Mandir is famous for its rich heritage as well as its magnificent architecture. This temple is dedicated to the Hindu God Vishnu. The edifife of temple is rested on twelve columns, which have been beautifully embroidered with stone carvings and bear the faces of the various gods of the Hindu Mythology. The temple attracts thousands of tourists during Rajim Lochan Mahotsava held during 16 Fabruary to 1 March.
The idol is made in beautiful black granite, is attired in unstitched garments that are folded over the idol. Lord Vishnu in The Rajiv Lochan temple is dressed up in different phases of life, at different phases of day. Another fable is that Rajim is situated on a lotus and is known as ‘Panchkoshi” as it has five shivlingams in the different temples.
On every full moon night there are the celebration at the temple and fair follows it. In the music of drums and pipes carries a procession of people carrying ‘madai’, a large pole decorated with colourful ribbons and festoons. This announces the celebration and beginning of fair.
The mythology is that, Long time ago the lotus, which is situated on novel of god Vishnu was dried and five leaves of flower was dropped into five different places which are Rajim, Kopra, Fingeshwar, Champaran, Bamhni.
The shivlingam of Kopra is known as Kopeshwar Mahadev. Kopra is a village which is placed near by Rajim of about 16 kilometers.
The Shivlingam of Fingeshwar is known as Faneshwar Mahadev. Fingeshwar is also an ancient town. The dashahra of Fingeshwar and Mouli Mata Mandir is also very famous you should visit it.
The Shivlingam of Champaran is known as Champkeshwar Mahadev. This is the place where great saint Vallabhacharya had born.
The Shivlingam of Bahmni is known as Bamleshwar Mahadev. This Village is placed near ‘Shwet Ganga’ river which is holy as Ganga River.
The Shivlingam of Rajim is known as Kuleshwar Mahadev. Close by is the ninth century Kuleshwar temple standing at a height, on a tiny island, right in the midst of the converging Rivers. It is said that the temple is unapproachable during monsoon when the rivers are in full.

Champaran      
                           
Champaran, formerly known as Champajhar, is a village in the Raipur District in the state of Chhattisgarh, India, which lies about 60 km from the state capital of Raipur via Arang.
The village is identified with Champaranya and therefore has religious significance as the birthplace of the Saint Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya, the reformer and founder of the Vallabh sect also known as Pushtimarg. A temple has been constructed in his honour. Near this is a temple of Champakeshwara Mahadeva. There are two Baithakji's of Lord Vallabhacharya Chaurasi Bethak. Here the birthday anniversary of the revered saint is celebrated every year in the months of April-May. It is the occasion that witnesses a large conglomeration of people to the place. An annual fair held in the months of Jan-Feb also attracts a lot of visitors to the place.
There are two temples dedicated to Shri Mahaprabhuji in Champaran. The first one is known as Prakatya Baithakji Mandir, where seva is performed by Param Pujya Goswami shri Vrajjivanlalji and his two sons Goswami Shri Dwarkeshlalji and Shri Purshottamlalji. The second Baithakji is Mool Prakatya that is normally known as Chhatti Baithak. In this temple seva is done by Goswami shri Vallabhlalji and Shri Raghunathlalji (Shri Pinky Bawa) of 5th house of Kamvan. Apart from this there is a Haveli temple dedicated to Shree Girirajji and Shree Balkrishnalalji. A small Stream of Mahanadi river flows near the temple which is believed to be form Yamuna River and worshipped. Mahaprabhuji's Prakatya Utsav is celebrated every year on eleventh day of Baisakh and many of followers of the sect gather at the temple to pay homage. The Annual Fair of Champaran is held with great festivities in the month of Magh every year. Large number of pushtimargiya vaishnavs visit champaran every year.
Jatmai and Ghatarani


Jatmai Dham
    If you are planning to visit any natural beautiful place in Chhattisgarh you must think about Jatmai & Ghatarani. These are two different places having beautiful water fall & forest area. Jatmai is Located in the South East Highlands of Chhattisgarh situated around 85 km from Raipur towards Gariabandh. Jatmai is 25 Kms from Ghatarani.









There is a temple called Jatmai Dham. 
It has recently developed as a

picnic spot.
"Best time to visit is from September to December or at Quanr Navaratri time (You will get water fall during this period after December there is no water available)."
          
Gariyabandh
Bhuteshwar Nath Mahadeva temple is situated here. This Shivalingam is not like as other shivlingams, it is as big as it looking like a small mountain and it is gradually increases in size.
Kachna-Dhurva is a small temple on the side of main road of Gariyabandh. It is known as Van Devta.
Sirkatti Ashram is another place in Gariyabandh. There is a small temple where the idols of gods have no head.
Patora
Patora is a small village, 25 km from Khariar Road and one of the major tourism attraction of this region. Tourists come here from many parts of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Yogeswar temple, Patora Dam and Rajeev udyan are main attraction here.

Yogeswar temple at Patora is famous for its ancient Shiva Linga.
Patora Dam
Patora Dam (Upper Jonk Irrigation Project) is built on Jonk River, in Odisha and Chhattisgarh border.
Rajeev udyan
A garden with flowerbeds, fountains and a view of the dam and the gates is situated next to the dam wall in Patora.
Godhas waterfall
Godhas is 42 km from Khariar Road. Waterfall here is very energetic in rainy and winter season. The place is surrounded by forest and is suitable for night camping.
Nrusinghanath Temple
In Bargarh district of Odisha, near Paikmal, a natural waterfall with an ancient temple and an annual fair. About 50 km from Khariar Road.
Jonk River
Khariar Road is situated very near to the banks of river Jonk, which separates Khariar Road from the state of Chhattisgarh
Aerodrome
A small airstrip for small aeroplanes and helicopters is located near the Gotma village.
